After sanding, primer and automotive paint ,will the firearms serial number still be visible? The left side looks acid etched on and has full numbers that match the ATT papers. The stamped numbers on the other side, by the rear leaf sight are only partial. Any legal ramifications if the full numbers are no longer able to be seen? How did other vz owners go about their refinishing jobs? Any solutions besides masking a hideous retangle. The cz858 does not have this issue since their full number is stamped.

I have painted a few guns before. You have to make sure that all the old paint is removed from the serial number before repainting.
When painting, spray it on light, and keep it that way. No thick coats of the spray. If you keep the coats of paint very thin, even when you apply multiple layers, it should still be visible.
