Repair or don't repair? M6 Scout Project Rifle (renamed)

I picked up a weaver number 28 base today. The screws were too small for the holes that are drilled and tapped into the scout. So I found a pair of screws from an old set of Millett Rimfire rings that were the perfect pitch and width. I ran a drill bit through the weaver base to open up the holes slightly and cut the screws (they were a touch too long) a little bit of blue loctite and voila! A pictanny base added on. I deliberately went with a nice small one so when I find the right optic it will not have too much rail hanging off...

Sorry to dampen your enthusiasm but I'd advise shooting it before you stick more money in!.
I had one, and found the shotgun and rifle shot to drastically different points of impact. The .22 was inaccurate as well, and the trigger was the worst I'd ever used on any firearm. the sights would not adjust enough to match point of impact. I'd hate to have to rely on it for actual survival, which is the purported reason for this model. I sold it to my buddy who uses it on his trapline to shoot animals in traps from a few feet away. that's about the only practical use I can think of for that gun.

I don't plan on dumping a pile of money into this. All I have put into it was a 5 dollar base and 50 dollars plus shipping into cleaning the shotgun bore... now I just need an optic. Not too expensive in my opinion but point taken, I think I will see where this rifle shoots...
