I picked up a slotted handguard for my M14, it has a few nicks in it and needs new paint. How do I fill in the nicks? Is there a putty or something similar for fibreglass? What paint would you guys recommend?
Two part epoxy will work...comes in a syringe with 2 tubes. Squirt some on a surface , mix it together and then apply . I have used the Krylon camo paint with good success .
I also use krylon for paint.... I have a trick to get rid of it's longevity problem..... I paint with krylon and then seal everything with arma coat matte clear. You then get all the camo colours you want without having to pay big $$$ as if they were all Arma coat, and you get the abrasion resistance of the real stuff with the clear coat....
I did Krylon on my slotted handguard. It sticks to it very nicely if your clean it up beforehand. I also didn't bother about the cracks, I see them as the past of this part.
