I am looking someone who will do repair work on a Model 29 S&W. Anyone know one someone in Alberta or BC ?

M J Charleton.
S & W factory repair outlet, Vancouver Island.

There Also WORTNER GUN WORKS in Ontario, but I am having problem with a job he did on my revolver. Paid to fix a problem that never got solve. He kept the gun for 4 months, He said send it back but, I am not sure I want to pay for shipping both ways again and Wait for ever again.

I sent a 29 to Charleton and low and behold it was crap, to many heavy rounds shot thru it and needed to be totally rebuilt. After a 5 month wait and turn around I finally got it back into my hands and decided to send it to Gunar. Within a week he said it would cost about 100.00 for the repair total with shipping. Three weeks later it was in my hands and worked perfectly.

That was about 6 years ago so maybe the idiot at Charleton has moved on or I am a totally isolated instance.

The really funny thing was that my father bought the 29 in 1983, had the same box of ammo for years and years and gave it to me in 2002. I have shot nothing but 8 grn of unique with 240 gn bullets, basically mild to mid range. So it has seen 50 factory loads and that is it, and those are not even hot.

The reason it went in for repair was once in a while when you went double action it would bind slightly. I will repair most of my firearms but trigger/indexing problems I leave to the pro's.

MD Charton. I have a Model 10 he did a full PPC conversion on, and it is a a dream gun. As well, he touched up the timing on a Model 19, and tweaked the trigger as well. Reasonable turn a round, fair price, and craftsmanlike work. What's not to like?

Sent my model 29 to Wortners in April 2009 and called several times since and have received promises that he will get round to it.

I was initially told a seven week turn around in an email. Not sure of the quality of work because I haven't got it back:(
