Hi all.
I just bought a 1911 Para s14-45 (~6 years old) and also ordered some parts from brownell's to replace on the gun.
- Wilson Extended slide release
- 1911 Oversize mag release
- Custom tune spring kit

My question, will I be able to replace those parts myself or will I need a professional gunsmith?

Thanks,
Mo

Yes you should be able to with a little bit of patience. There are a couple of good 1911 forums/sites - google and you will find.

slide release should be easily installed, mag release should be easy, the spring kit i would take it too the gunsmith so he can tune it properlly. You really dont want a FA 1911. I would load 2 rds in a mag to make sure the gun works properlly.

For more information on what you want to install goto www.blindhogg.com/gunsmithing This gunsmith tells you how he does the different installations, some may require special tools but others don't and you get to see what is required before you start. Pretty good site.
