I need to get a new Winchester barrel for a project, and was looking at barrels from Track of the Wolf. In a couple instances they have what look to be the same barrels, but one is a 'Taper #2' and 'Taper #3'. Can anyone explain what the difference is?

3 - 2 = 1 :D

.
just joking... pretty bad...

... you would have to look at their specifications for their tapers... all barrel makers seem to have their own exact specs...

As in the BP retailer in MN? I'm not seeing any barrels on their site. What make are the ones you're seeing? However, a taper number is just the name given by the maker for the assorted tapers from the chamber to the muzzle. A Hart sporter barrel #1 has a taper starting at .700" just forward of the chamber going down to .550" at the muzzle.

Winchester classified their octagon barrels by number, relfecting size and weight. Why not just call Track? They could explain the difference.
