Replacement bolt handles for rem700.

I have always felt it to be better to alter the existing handle, rather than change it. The handle is installed by copper induction brazing at the factory. It will be reinstalled by sivler soldering using an oxy-acetylene torch in all likelihood. A jig can be used to insure proper alignment. The handle saddle and the rear of the bolt body, where the cocking cam is located, will be subject to red heat, and cooled. This may well affect the hardness of the cocking cam.
By converting the knob into a threaded shank, an extended or oversized knob can be added, with the use of heat.
There are also those who TIG weld replacement handles in place. This is reported to work well.

Give Dave Kiff a call at Pacific tool. They are making bolts and bolt handles for the remington......I believe with Sako extractors too...........

I have installed the Holland Tactical handles and like them pretty well. They are about 1/2 inch longer than the factory handle with an attractive pear shaped ball. So many of the "Tactical" handles look like something which would look more at home as a part of a lug wrench.
The holland handle replaces the extraction cam as well and is silver soldered on. This allows one to improve primary extraction at the same time.
I have also simply cut off the factory knob then weled on a replacement along with another 3/8" of shank.
Regarding the cocking cam, I've never found this to be a problem when replacing handles. The truth is, the cocking cam is usually quite soft anyway. In fact, it is often beneficial to harden this surface to prevent a tendency to gall.
See what your gunsmith recommends and what he is comfortable doing. Regards, Bill.

If you are looking for knobs. We carry Badger Black ($49.50) and a variety for Savages.

Keep in mind the Badger knob needs to be fitted to the existing bolt or a new one.....

Yes I was more interested in just changing the knob anyway and didn't want/need to exchange the entire handle. I just want something bigger and a little longer to grab on than the regular 700 knob.

plus it will be a lot cheaper to have it replaced than the entire bolt handle assembly
