replacement parts for dies?

okay so i stripped the brass lock ring screw :redface:
am i going to need to get another die? (are they sold seperatly)
or can i buy another lock ring screw? If i can get the stripped one out.
If it helps the die in question is a rcbs 30-06 springfield fl set and its the die that seats the bullet
 
Your die is fine and you could use the ring of any other die for now. Lee lock rings are cheap and I like them.

Since you have an RCBS die go to their website and fill out the question form. Tell them what happened and fill in your name and address. Tomorrow they will msg you back saying they mailed you free replacement parts.

I prefer the Hornady Sure-Loc rings myself.

Get Redding dies instead.
 
well i already got an email response, i explained to them what happened and they said

Hi just ordered that for you along with some brass buffers to place between the die body and the set screw

so sounds like like the piece i need is on the way so im pretty impressed with how quickly they responded to my email.
 
If all you stripped was the brass set screw in the lock ring, try to remove with an easy out and replace with a true metal set screw.( any machine shop or good hardware store) To avoid harming the threads on the die, take a shot shell (#6) and remove some pellets and insert one lead pellet prior to threading the metal set screw in. This will lock the ring in place and not harm the threads. I do this to every die I own ,new or used. This way your dies are always locked in place and set for your next session as well. Just my 2 cents.

The lee lock rings are nice. They tighten against a rubber O ring which likely helps to keep the die in line despite the press threads. Also they lock (not postively) but if you thread the using the ring/nut they don't move. Don't use the die body as you will change the adjustment.

It is easy to adjust for 1-3 thous changes by just loosening the die in the press and manually turning the die a little in the ring. No adjusting/stripping brass screws etc required.

Use a wrench on the nut to positively seat the die in the press.

well the replacement parts for the die came with a lot of extras they gave me a whole new lock ring plus extra screws for it and brass buffers. thanks for tips too go to the rcbs website.
