Due to the ongoing powder shortages, we have to work with what we can get our hands on. Who here had to replace a favorite powder, and had the replacement turn out to be better than the original? I have! In my case, it was replacing H4831 with IMR 4955 in 6.5x55 loads. It has produced my tightest groups ever with my rifle.

I was a bit sceptic when I first started using the D4350. Now it is probably one of my favorites. My 6mm rem loves it. Creed seems to also.

Vihtavuori powder for pistol. I bought it because I couldn’t find my usual Alliant powder. Turns out the Vihtavuori is excellent. It meters fantastic.

I moved from H4831 to IMR4955 for 300Win Mag and 6.5x55, Got more velocity out of IMR4955 with a similar charge weight and was pretty accurate to boot for the first initial loads. Happy with the results so far.

I haven't tried the D powders yet, am anxious to try tho -
I did switch from H4350 in the creed to R16/R26 - the performance gains were an eye opener, with no change in accuracy
Also switched to VV powder for 6mmBR - same groups, but tighter sd's.

The biggest diff in switching powders, was the new price of powder these days.

I've been thinking about the D powders too. The one works in all 4 of my Blackhawks and 6-8 of my rifles. ;)
