I think it's time to upgrade the trigger on my Hawkeye. Does anyone have preferences and/or reasons for preferring the Rifle Basix or Timney?
Installation looks relatively simple for either. The Timney does give you a new sear, the Basix just changes the trigger itself.

I was always a fan of timney, but I recently installed one for my brother and wasn't very impressed. I think for my money today, I would try a rifle basix - or there are several YouTube videos reworking the factory trigger.

A local gunsmith adjusted a few of mine down to under 3 lbs. now they are as good as any hunting trigger I have used. I would try this before I put something else in.

I have two Hawkeyes. One trigger was done by Corlanes. It's 2.5 lbs and crisp as all get out. The other is also very crisp, but is about 3-3.5 lbs after I went digging in the pen drawer to find a spring. Works slicker than goose spit:) Try polishing the trigger surfaces and a lighter spring before you buy. It costs you nothing but a few moments.

I tried Timney and wasn't overly impressed with the gain I achieved.
Rifle Basix would be my next attempt.
I should of listened to Jerry at Mystic.

I also did a timmney and it seemed kind of chinsy and didn't appear as well made as other of their products I've used. In addition you have to alter the safety so if you ever go back to original trigger you would have to buy a new safety. No problem getting a nice pull though. It came with 2 springs and you can get it down to ounces if you want.
