Hi guys, where do you get your kits to change the factory sks mag to a drop box mag and how big a job is it to make the change?

We can give you a run down, here on Youtube. We also do the conversion labor & milling for $249 if you prefer, just mail the gun to us, 2 week turn around.

Thanks for your replies guys, I'm really not wanting to change my mag if there's so much to it. I was kind of hoping that it was just a matter of buying a kit where there would be some minor alterations that I could do myself. The only reason I wanted to change it is because, 1 I think it looks better and 2 easier loading if you don't have stripper clips. So thankyou for your replies, I really appreciate it, but seeing what's involved, I think I'll just leave it as is.

Yeah, there is a fair bit of dikkin around to make it happen, but it is pretty sweet once it's all tuned up.
I got one in an Archangel Opfor stock with the HiCal adapter and a Tech Sight rear peep, all of which I bought from Dave.
It sure turned a few heads at base Borden last weekend as I went through a buttload of 10 round mag fulls without any hiccups whatsoever.

Yea I bet it did, I've seen a few on here in those Archangel stocks and they do look very nice. Just a bit more to it then I expected just to make it a bit easier to load.
Oh well I'll just keep pushing them down from the top.

Here's what mine turned out like after I refinished it. This gun is mint, all matching numbers, 54 tula, I don't think it was ever shot until I shot it.

Nice job on that beauty!

We still load the mags with stripper clips after the conversion, a FULL stripper clip! In fact, your rifle becomes a loader for all your mags....
 
Its not very difficult to install at all, dremel with router attachment and a tungsten bit, to mill the reciever, and a grinder to do the bolt modification. Just be patient and take your time when making the cuts.

"Percussion", there's a couple of things that changed my mind about doing this conversion, 1, was having to give it to Canada post and trust them to get it there and back, even though I've bought guns and had them delivered by Can post, there's something about this one even if it was very inexpensive compared to a couple that I had shipped. And 2, doing this myself scares me, I am good with my hands and tools and know I could most likely do it, just the thought of even a slim chance of screwing up. Na, it's just to nice a rifle to risk it.
 
I bought the conversion but have cataracts and cant do it myself. How much would it cost to put it together for me?
 
The cost for milling & conversion is $249, we will mill any aftermarket stock to fit if you want to change it out. Ship the complete rifle & detailed instructions, including your contact #.
