Hey guys,

I'm waiting on my Russian SKS to get here, and I'm already looking at what I can do to make the irons a bit better. From what I've read, the front post will cover an 8" target at 100yrds, which seems a little large to me. I won't be shooting the gun too much, but when I do, I'd like it sighted for 100-200. I've seen aftermarket posts you can put in, but can't seem to find much past fiber-optic that is available in Canada. Any suggestions?

Also, how do you find the rear sight. I think it'll be sufficient, but are you guys using anything different? I wanted to run a scope initially, but I don't want to make any permanent modifications to this one, all stock is fine for me thanks!

Finally, I'm seeing sight adjustment tools on most supplier sights, and I'm completely unfamiliar with them. Are they really need it, or does it make the job easier? Thanks in advance, I'll post some pictures when it gets here, hopefully next week. It's a '54 Tula.

Im sure you could jerry rig something or find other tools for your sks sights... For five dollars I spent the money on a sight tool...

Just take time with your rifle and see how it shoots first. I know I like the leaf sights, just need to get used to them. Figure out how your gun shoots.

I don't really see a huge need unless your eye sight isn't the best on why you would change the sights.

Check out hical.ca, Dave has Tech-sights, Williams peep sights, Fiber optic sights and the best upgrade: the Tech-sights front post. Its much finer than the original and makes an improvement even with the original open rear sight. Keep in mind fiber optic sights are usually wider than originals too.

6 O'clock hold, post does not obscure target, problem solved, basicaly zero it so when the top of the post is just under the target it hits the target.

I have a fire fight fiber optic/peep site kit . I took a chance that it might work on my cz (it doesn't) so its just sitting in my basement now....

i've filed sides of front post to make a target post..(with a half turn it is same thickness as stock)...if worried about keeping stock use a norinco one...made a sight adj tool from a c-clamp and hollow piece of metal with a slot cut into it (works fine)

Just don't use needle nosed pliers for adjusting the front sight. Unless you want to bugger the finish.
