replacing sights on a Norinco

I'm having trouble with the NP58 sights on a new one. I'll probably have to put a new set on, but for now I'd just like to move the rear one, it's really pushed to one side.

I've tried tapping it over, and by tapping I mean putting a set on the side of the sight and hammering as hard as I feel comfortable, and it will not budge. I don't see any set screws on top or under the slide.

What can I do to get by with the stock sight while I decide how to get proper sights on this? Heat the slide around the dovetail? Will that do any damage, physical or cosmetic?
 
My np22 had rear shifted too
I applied heat with a soldering iron and was able to tap it back a bit. They definitely used some loc tite or some glue on the sites.

The kid who puts on sights on norincos should be let go. Totally incompetent

I have replaced the front and rear sights on several Norc 1911s. Different brands of rear sights have been used. They all fit the existing rear sight dovetail just fine.

On the front I always use a standard dovetail type Colt fibre front sight from Fusion. They cost about $25 on ebay.

If the Norc has a factory front dovetail cut, it is just cut a bit wider to the standard (0.330, i think).

If the pistol has a staked front sight, a Colt m70 sight will fit perfectly, but I have been advised that staked front sight eventually fall off, so I have the smith cut a front dovetail. Cost was about $65.

I have used Rodger Kotanko for this work and found him fast, efficient and economical.
 
It's could be alot of work. I find different generations of Norcs are different so it doesn't help. The sights can be modified to fit usually. I did mine myself and fit it with night sights.
