I was wondering what people thinking of replacement stocks and selling.
I've got a couple Savage 99's that have cracked stocks right behind the tang (common spot on the old lever 99's) and was wondering if it would be easier to sell them with the original cracked stocks or replace it?
I've got replacement stocks on hand, but didn't want to fit the new ones on if it would decrease the number of potential buyers that would be interested in it. The one rifle, my 250-3000 (made in 1952) is cracked beyond it being safe to fire and repair, in my opinion, and the 300 Savage (made in 1944) would be OK to fire. Both are in good overall condition (except for the cracks).
Just looking for some insight.
I've already got another set of 99's in the same calibers (250&300) that have no cracks in that area that I will be keeping for my collection.
After selling these 2, I'll be looking for a post 1960, Model 99, in 250 Savage.
Thanks!
