I highly doubt the powder used in that factory ammo is available for consumer purchase. Its some kind of bulk powder. There isn’t even a guarantee that all the Hornady Custom 150sst ammo is going to use the same powder.

Either way its easy enough to produce a high quality alternative. Varget is super easy to load 308 for. I’d get some 150gn SST (assuming he really wants that bullet) and load some.

Personally I’d go with a 175 to 180gn bullet loaded ~20thou off lands with 42.7 to 43.0gn Varget. That seems like a sure recipe in pretty much any 308.

I reload 308 for my brother using Hornady Custom brass, CCI # 200 primers, and 43 gr IMR 4064 behind the 150 SST.
Crimped just before the cannelure. This is the starting load for a 150 jacketed bullet. Never exceed is 47.7 grain.
My brother loves these loads. He says they are laser accurate, low recoil, and drop deer all day long.
