I sent them an email requesting some part prices for a glock 17 and got this as part of a reply.

"The 3.5 lb connector can only be provided with special permission
from GLOCK Inc. You can write to them and ask them to fax us authorization"

umm.. is there an easier way to find this part in canada?

also is ordering hand gun parts from the US like brownwells ok under $100 or do I need import / export permits?

I believe the reason Police Ordnance said that special permission is required is because making unauthorized modifications to the Glock will void your warranty.

I contacted PO about a stronger spring when I was contemplating a purchase of some surplus ammo that was loaded pretty hot. The armourer at PO forwarded my inquiry to Glock, and the response was that if I chose to change any of the spings myself, I would void my warranty.

I stop bothering trying with Police Ordnance when they blew me off with something simular. They have company listed (KKM, Bar Sto Etc ), I asked if they could order in parts and they pritty much said. Do it yourself and we dont really cator to the sports shooter but LEO.

I know the owner. He's a very decent man. However, he IS geared primarily for the police market. He's not out to directly compete with the sporting retailers. If he's got a product that is dual stream, he's happy to oblige, but individual orders are too much of a pain most of the time. He's only got a few employees, and they already spend a lot of time on the phone, chasing down various permits.

This is true, you will void your warranty if you disassemble your pistol any further than field stripping. Pushing out the pins could cost you a lot more than you asked for. Before you do any work to your pistol check out this site first http://www.topglock.com/info/info.htm read carefully then proceed at your own risk. Unlike steel framed guns, you only get one shot at it. You screw up the plastic and you're the proud owner of a new paper weight.

As for the connectors, they can be found at the above mentioned locations.

Because PO is primarily a LE supplier I am not sure they are allowed to stock the 3.5 connector as they are never to be put into guns that could be issued for street use. I have always had very good dealings with these folks.

Just try one of the other vendors, I know TSE in Calgary has 3.5 connectors but they may be another brand.

They can stock the part, the owner is not a very frinedly person at all, and they do infact advertise and encourage civilian sales on their web-site, only when a civilian calls, the story is totaly different. Go with some of the other shops suggested, you will get better service. I know that Simmons gun shop in Hamilton is a big time Glock shop. From what I have been told, they have certified Glock armourers on staff there, so I am sure they can get you the part. Besides, if you are putting a Glock part into a Glock, it sould not void the warranty.

Wrong, It indeed will void the warranty if you disassemble your Glock beyond normal field stripping conditions. Pushing out pins and changing your connector WILL void warranty. Question is, how the hell are they supposed to know? Unless you seriously mangle your gun or ship it to them for repairs with a non OEM part, like the 3.5 connector in say your G17 or G22.

The 3.5# connector is not approved for LEO use by Glock AFAIK, so it's no great wonder Brian doesn't keep it in stock. He can not sell new Glocks to civilians, as he's got a LEO distributorship, so it's no small wonder that he doesn't keep the sporting accesories in stock.

As far as being friendly, well I suppose that would entirely depend on who's on the other end of the phone.

Putting a 3.5 in your gun will not void the warranty if installed by a certifeid Glock armourer and the parts is a Glcok part, as I clearly suggest in Al Simmons in Hamilton. As for as Police Ordnance being primarily LE, that is ture, but again, as it describes on the web-site, it states:

"although our primary focus is to provide leading edge products and services to Law Enforcment and Government agencies and their members, we do offer products to the civilian market. We often have agency pre owned firearms we offer to the civilian market."

They often have pre owned firearms they sell to the civilian market? Right, just not the customer service to go with those firearms.

It continues on about other LE devices and firearms and that they cannot sell to the civilian market, not a problem, but the beginning clearly shows us that they do infact advertise that they deal with the civilian market. I have been there, not purchased anything, with my lacal tactical SGT., who gets treated like gold, then again he has a big budget that he can spend there.

The company does have a bit of a bias when it comes to civilian sales, they prefer the LE business. And yes Canuk223 is correct, Police Ordnance is an LE distributor for Glock, North Sylva is the civilian distributor, but I cannot see why PO would not or could not get a 3.5lb. connnector, this is not for an LE gun.

Police Ordnance is an aquired taste to buyers, as are buyers to Police Ordnance.

Like most of the others have suggested, try some of the other dealers.

Heres the email I got.....

Hello Robert,

Good to hear from you again. We don’t carry any KKM barrels. With the documentation required today we let customers obtain their own barrels to fit into GLOCK pistols.

We don’t stock GLOCK slide assemblies. I priced one out for a customer some time ago, and it came to over $ 600.00.

We don’t sell the rebuild kit you mentioned. As law enforcement distributor we don’t carry much for the sport shooter by way of aftermarket products.

Sorry, I struck out on all three. But keep asking! Maybe we can help sometime.

Regards, Jo

yeah that sounds like a blowoff Rob, oh wait no it doesn't it sounds pretty reasonable to me.

I've had nothing but good dealings with PO, maybe you guys just gave them bad vibes or something?

Then why would they advertise they sold KKM barrels if they not willing to import a 400+ usd barrel? Parts I was looking for were glock factory parts to build up a frame.

PO makes me happy.
Jo, if you're on here, you make me happy. not in that way though.

Jo has always been good to me, not entirely timely with the email responses, but, he gets me the info and parts I need. That said, if you want no hassles, try glockparts... they know all the right things to indicate while going through customs. ;)
