Reporting on good stuff and crap!

I too have had unsatisfactory results with a bushnell rangefinder, though it is just a cheapy. It works pretty good out to 200 yds, but beyond that, or in cold temps, forget it! Good for bowhunting and maybe blackpowder, but not much else. Having an inferior rangefinder on a prairie mule deer hunt this year did me no favours in getting my deer. I plan to upgrade before next year. The 1500 Elite ARC is tempting, even though it is a bushnell.

Yoteboy was showing me his new Bushnell 1500 the other day. We couldn't get a reading past 400 yards, including on a big red hip-roof barn. It got returned to WSS, My hate/hate opinion of Bushnel is unchanged and even the barn is still laughing.:D My Leica never misses a beat.;) imagine that.

Whoa, Bishopus took a big leap, from Bushnell junk to a Geovid, your wife loves you buddy, congradulations. My wife bought me the Leupold RX3 range finder. I picked it over the Windriver RB800 as I already have a good set of binocs. I'm going to take it out on the weekend before she wraps it up. I'll report back to you guys when I'm done...so stay tuned.

I've got the Bushnell Elite 1500's, have had them for about a year and a half and find they're pretty good. It'll range trees out to just under a thousand, and animals out to 700+. Only thing I don't like is the 9V battery, I've gone through a few already, just gotta remember to carry extras.

For some reason I don't hear of a lot of guys using Nikon products. I bought a Nikon 800 RF (from SIR) for like $420 a couple of years ago. I'm very happy. Crystal clear image, ranges basketball sized stuff to around 550 yards. I was ranging stumps through my truck windshield in the rain last weekend at 400 yards. Not sure why you'd ever want to do that  but I was pretty impressed... My only issue is I wish the field of view was a bit bigger - still its a keeper.

I've also got a Buckmaster 3-9x40 scope that I've used exclusively this year in a lot of bad weather. Another keeper. I'd put its clarity and field performance up there with a lot of scopes worth hundreds more.. No, I don't work for Nikon :D I had good luck with their survey equipment years back and thought I'd give them a try. I'll probably buy more of their optical equipment.

I broke my kershaw serated knife that I have had for 3 years the other day.so I asked the wife if she had bought me one yet and she hadn't so i went and got one.that is a very nice knife.is there any way to sharpen those gut hooks if the need ever arises?

I'm about a year late chiming in on this one, but I recently purchased one of these myself. I was kinda concerned about screwing up the sharpening, so I contacted Kershaw and they recommended to send it to them as a warranty item....they'll sharpen it and send it back.

This would be my last resort but at least it's a good option to ensure it's done right.
