The CFSC/CRFSC describes the policy of reporting stolen of firearms, but if the ammunition (not gun) is stolen, does the gun owner have to report to RCMP?

"prohibited ammunition" - never heard from CFSC/CRFSC? Is that ammunition used by prohibited firearm? like cannon ammunition or missiles?

"...so the prohibited ammunition is not..." Nope. It's prohibited to sell or possess. Too evil. Incendiaries, for example. NRCan thinks tracers and AP are prohibited too, but they're wrong. They won't allow it to be imported though. This is civil servants making law by regulation.
If you don't report your property as being stolen, should you become the victim of a crime, you will never get it back. Police departments typically destroy both firearms and ammo they recover anyway. Mind you, you wouldn't be able to identify recovered stolen ammo as your property anyway.
