I've searched a long time for the rare and obscure M14 Winter Safety with no luck.
I was recently searching for one online and discovered that a U.S. company called "Lucky Irishman Firearms" has come up with a reproduction. They accepted my Canadian order and it arrived today...they are cleverly calling it an "M1A Winter Safety".
Here is their product description:
This is our take on the old winter safety the M14/M1A used to have so that you can actuate the safety on and off from OUTSIDE the trigger guard, thus vastly reducing the chance of an unintentional discharge, especially when wearing gloves.
We rounded the front corner so it won’t catch or snag on clothing and upgraded the part to Nitrided (black) stainless steel; these will provide years of service.
These haven’t been available for sale in decades. Get them while you can!

Now you have to get the matching winter trigger to complete your set. I used to have a complete set but, fool that I am, I sold them when I needed some cash. I still have the picture tough.

I like the idea of the winter safety, but have never really been keen on the W. trigger. I guess I don't like the idea of having to screw it to the stock.

Refer to my previous post for the M14 winter trigger and safety. Here's a picture of the winter trigger installed on my TRW M14. Very easy to install and remove. Just open the trigger guard and hook the slotted end of the winter trigger onto the tab end of the trigger guard and close it (the trigger guard).

The winter trigger you show in post #5 was originally designed for the M1. It can be used on a wood stocked M14. The winter trigger I show in post #8 was designed for the M14 but can be used on the M1 as well. No screwing into stock is required with this one. The M14 winter trigger can be used on the milled and stamped trigger guards of the M1 and M14. On the milled trigger guard, just remove the slotted leaf spring by depressing the retaining spring on the post and pulling the leaf spring off. The trigger post now pops right into the rear hole of the trigger guard and is held on by the retaining spring. I hope this clarifies things for you

I just received one in the mail. Problem is I ordered 3 not 1. I emailed this guy and he tells me
I’m wrong and that he shipped it himself and that there was 3. He tells me he doesn’t have any more anyways and that he won’t be making more so I’m S.O.L.

Well that's a sad end to that story. No issues with my transaction but yours went off the rails. I hope they'll credit you the difference...keep us informed please.

brother, is that guy even export licensed?
I tried to order one of these after machman posted it and initially there wasn't a problem but when I replied to their positive response I asked if they were export licensed.
That's where comms ended and they have not answered any of the 3 emails I sent after that.
Then I see my brother got burned...…

maybe I'll send them another email LOL

He says he will send me his last one. 2 out of 3 is better than one I suppose. I just hope he sends the last one. He also states that his website inventory is incorrect ... so if I were you guys I might save your money....

Update

This guy is a bigger POS then I thought.

I paid for 3 and he sends one.
Says he is all out of stock though his website shows 2
Then he says he has one more and he will send it to me.
A month goes by and he ignores all comms from me.
I post a negative review on his facebook page and he replies within two minutes and says 1 in 100 people aren’t happy with his company and that’s good enough for him. $200 including duty for a $40 safety. Do not waste your money with this companyZ. Feel free to send him a message... since he claims I am lying and me CGN feedback is perfect.
