Just wondering if anyone has any news on availability of the Repro S&W Model 27 pictured here or if any of our dealers will special order it with pre-payment.

Saw some examples of the new "retro" S&W wheelies at the spankin new Cabelas gunroom in Las Vegas this past May. Not very impressed. :( The grips might be impressive if they actually tried to fit them like their traditional revolvers of yore. These latest offerings look like they were fitted by chimps at the zoo..... :runaway:

Gimme a 'real deal' vintage S&W wheelgun over these latest abominations any day of the week, thanks.

I agree!!! I'm a big fan of S&W revolvers and I've purchased a few new ones the last two years. My latest, a 617, has really left me disappointed and saddened to see such a drop in "quality". I bought this from Ellwood Epps before they became a sponsor here on CGN. I'll never purchase a new S&W revolver again without seeing/inspecting/handling it first in a store.

Similar marks exist to a lesser extent on the underlug of the barrel. Buyer beware.........YMMV.

Originals aren't too hard to find and range from $400 - $700.

+1 to that. It's surprising to me that older revolvers are available at sometimes only about half or so of what a new one would cost and unless it's been mistreated will be just as good if not better than a new one.

I'm sorry to hear that. I would prefer an original if I could find an excellent nickle 27 no dash.
