Reproduction Enfield Sniper Rifle Box

Beautiful job Rick!

This is for my No.4T. Will post a couple pix with the rifle and chest when it arrives.

I'm not worried if the markings and hinges don't jive. 20 years from now when it's all beat up I don't want anyone thinking it's authentic.

Hey, just ship it Canada Post...by the time you get it'll have that "been there, been crushed" look we so like...:D

Badger's right. Using Cno7 hardware with 4 screw hinges means Canadian. Here's a couple of pics of a Canadian box, in case you want to change your markings to suit.

Correct me if I am wrong guys, but I guess the only thing wrong with my markings on the front of the box is the "0" in "NO", should be a smaller o and higher??
The plans I used are presumably British, and show three upright pieces at the butt end where the rifle butt rests but in the awesome pictures on milsurp.com the Canadian box only shows one large block about 1X1.25X5 inches high to hold the butt of the rifle steady while in transit.
I am guessing that the British and Canadian boxes are not that much different except for the 3 vs 4 screw hole hinges, stencil markings and those blocks at the butt end?
Again, thanks guys for all the nice comments.

OMG!! I hope you didn't bubba a box!!!!

Sorry, just thought I would take a stap at some of the "nutz" here....:D

Seriously, excellent job!

Check out the original link I left for the Long Branch....

Within that Knowledge Library, you'll find a large button that leads to a very detailed photo montage with comparative pics of British and Canadian chests taken from multiple camera angles ... :)

The leather carrying handles were also different, stitched closed versus left open. ;)

Regards,
Badger

Yes, I was on that photo montage a million times while building the box and know it well, it is an awesome article. I tried to do my best to make the box totaly Canadian, except as I say the plans I have are presumeably British and indicate three up right pieces at the butt end of the box. The pictures on milsurp site showing the inside, butt end of the Canadian box only has one upright piece to hold the rifle butt in place, at least that's all I can see.
I had a local saddle maker make the handles and I think I got that right at least. He took two pieces of leather, glued and stitched them together as opposed to the double folded British ones shown in the milsurp photo montage.
In the photo montage, of course it shows photos of Sgt Marshall, the famous Canadian sniper. At the home where my Mom lives there is a WW2 Vet who was in the same unit as him and knew him, now is that cool or what? I often go visit him after seeing my Mom and we BS about what he did and where he went after hitting the beaches, great old guy and really saw a lot of action, all the way to Caen.
