Hey guys,

I am in the process of picking up another USGI M1 carbine and am toying with the idea of a reproduction M1A1 stock, are these floating around Canada at all or would they be fairly difficult to obtain? I see a lot of US dealers won’t ship these (or most things) up here. I was also thinking of throwing a reproduction flip sight and narrow barrel band on to at least give the look / feel of a WW2 carbine - would these be similarly difficult to hosting up here?

Thanks!

The Italian made repro para stocks were available in Canada several years ago. Not 100% sure, but thought that Marstar was selling them. Also, thought they were priced somewhere around $275.00 at the time. Don't know if anyone has them anymore. I think the Auto Ordnance M1 Carbine is offered in a "Para" version...

Say what now? I've bought lots of M1 Carbine parts through Numrich, brownells, and others. I did order and receive a folding reproduction M1 Carbine stock from Northridge Inc.

many if not most of the M1 carbine parts are prohibited from export rom the US due to ITAR as almost every m1 carbine part will fit on a full auto carbine and full auto parts cant be exported

You can find gov contact manuf. replacement stocks once in a while at gunshows. They were part of the barrels of parts ordered and supplied under the original WW11 contracts. they have all the original cut-outs of the ones shipped complete on the rifles but are unmarked (lack the ordinance stampings & manuf. ID's). Last ones I bought were 2 off a table of 5 at the Calgary spring show about 5 yrs ago, those remaining 3 might show up anywhere. They were all "as new & in unissued shape...$75 apiece at the time i bought them.

Just to add...the ones I bought were "later in the war" versions that have the M2 cut-outs as well.

I have a very nice 1944 Inland M1 carbine with proper 1944 Inland barrel that currently that sits in a post war “pot belly” type stock (with selector cut out) with adjustable sights, bayonet lugged front stock band and has a round bolt. Great set up and one of the most fun rifles to shoot. Typical of a “Korean War Era” or “Vietnam War Era” issued rifle. It’s an outstanding shooter and I enjoy it very much.

I just picked up another that I’m waiting on that’s a 1943 Inland with early high wood stock and flat bolt. Typical post war rebuild (Underwood if I remember correctly), but figured a set of real (or repro) flip sights and narrow stock band and/or M1A1 repro stock would make a neat shooter and a different evolution of what I currently have.

Has anyone here done the sight and barrel band swap?

yes you need the sight tools to do it right the barrel band will show the marks on the finish on the barrel and you probably will be able to tell it was replaced

Yea I’m not too worried about it hiding the fact it was swapped out, as long as I don’t damage anything. It’s a typical rebuilt rifle and won’t ever be factory original, it’d just be neat as a shooter to have one in the same configuration as was carried during the Second World War.

I recently required new parts and the bolt tool for the repair bolts of 2 Inland M1 1945 Carbines, I found these people very easy to deal with and they do export to Canada. I had no requirement for export documentation for the bolt parts I purchased. hxxps://bestcarbineparts.com/

its fine provided the have a valid us export permit

if they do not and the parcel is intercepted they and YOU could be in big trouble with ITAR violations

Ummm, I don’t believe so. There is a big difference between FA parts and parts that will fit an FA.

Numrich is more than familiar with ITAR and they will ship most parts for an M1 carbine except for the barrel.

Don’t you own a Colt R0634? Anything for an AR-15 wouldn’t be exportable using that logic.
