they did the 48 as well but i may get one even if on the wrong side of the bolt ...

A more detailed video of the reproductions. Looks like a few mods were done.
Don't take this the wrong way, I like the look of this new rifle, but with so many NOS as well as refurbed to as new M48 types on the market right now and very likely cheaper than the commercial knock offs, the only reason I can see going to this "new mauser'' would be the 308Win chambering.

I wanted an M48 years ago but held off because of the price and availability of 8mm Mauser. It's a great cartridge but not really available to me locally. At least in any quantity and for a decent price. I'd definitely be interested in one of these in 308 though.
Kind of disappointing, I hope this is only a prototype.
But why would they show a prototype to introduce a new model?
The woodwork is "Norincoesque", and the stepped barrel protrudes the upper hand guard.
The upper barrel band with the bayonet lug are out of position and far back, no bayonet would fit unless it has a ten inch handle.

Why would they used the stamped late war barrel band, vs the machined steel earlier one?
