Hi,

I just bought a browning xbolt in .270 win and would like to give the bolt a thorough cleaning however I cannot find any info as to how to safely disassemble the bolt. Does anyone have any experience with the xbolt that they can give me some pointers.

Thanks

Get a can of G96 and with the thin tube spray the bolt from every which way you can access all the nooks and crannies and firing pin hole (from face of bolt) and keep spraying till you have the lube flowing from every nook and cranny in the bolt.

Invert it and allow all the excess oil to drain from said bolt into lots of absorbent paper towel of course.

While the bolt is draining and it will drain for a long time, go and search the internet for directions on how to disassemble the bolt.
That or wait till someone else has a better idea.

The reason I offer this advice is because I like to fix things till they break and the method mentioned has never failed me...yet.

I have 2 xbolts and cannot think of a good reason to disassemble the bolts. They shoot like a hot damn. If it aint broke I dont fix it. Sometimes thats how stuff gets buggered up or that ONE tiny little pin goes into a black hole.....

I've always disassembled my bolts to give them a thorough cleaning/oiling/greasing. Many manufacturer make it very easy to disassemble (cz, sauer, sako), not sure why Browning is so difficult.
