Good evening all,

being an infanteer, I can't sit back without knowing how to detail strip my XCR. I wrote Terra for a shop manual or the likes, but haven't heard back. Does anyone have any docs/info that will no doubt void my warranty?

Cheers!

it may be one of the simplest rifles on the planet to detail strip. I can explain every step involved from memory and Ive only done it a couple times, almost a year ago. However I do not have ant torque specs, not that I use them anyways. Its one of those rifles thats plainly obvious which parts need to be removed/re-installed in what order. The only place that may not be SO obvious is the trigger group.... remove the safety first and mind the detent plunger and spring, then the clip on the hammer pivot pin, then hammer/spring, next is the trigger/sear/spring.

One more tip of advice, use a VERY LIGHT oil and only a LIGHT FILM on the hammer pivot pin. I experimented with different viscosity oils, heavy oils caused light primer strikes every time.

This guy beats the crap out of his XCR with mud and sand and hammering the gas tube, then does a detail strip and rips off a bunch of rounds. I saw this last night and was like "Wow, you could teach a neophyte how to do that in like 5 minutes with an Allen key set":

hop over to xcrforums, someone there should have a copy of it in pdf form. Terra emailed it to a lot of guys, someone over there prob has it saved on their computer.

Heya,

Cheers all, will check the XCR forums and failing success there, ask their service department.

Thanks!

Hey wait - I thought the XCR was an unreliable piece of junk that was only suitable as a book end or flimsy club ...

Don't worry about detail stripping your XCR. Over time they will detail strip themselves. It's a feature, not a flaw. :p

LOL.. Loctite..:)
Why would you clean ?? Just shoot her... I have yet to clean mine since the new and have put about 800 rnds through her with no hiccups.

field stripping is pulling out the carrier, bolt, barrel out, upper off. Detail is breaking it down to every single component, that still only takes about 3 minutes, however I never pulled the gas block off the barrel because theres no reason youll ever do that except to replace your barrel if you buy a barrel without it.
