Hello All,

I received a private message requested some "cool pics" of my FAL, and I made my best effort to comply with said request. I must admit that I was flattered; Thanks. I can't vouch for the actual "coolness" of these pics--I'm no artist, and my camera is pretty lame--but for what it's worth...it's a DSA-58 FAL.

P.S. For those that don't know; I'm a US citizen in Texas, so there should be no legal breach with these pics.

Very nice Corpus, thanks for the pics

I've always wanted a FAL but I was too stupid to buy one when they were dirt cheap in the early 90's.

Now of course I can't be trusted to own one although apparently the Chinese M14 in my safe is perfectly fine. We all know that some semi auto .308's are much more dangerous than others.

I took that rifle out on the range weekend before last, and put about 250 rounds though it. I came home and had to clean the heck out of it, and looking at these pictures it's obvious to me that I didn't get all the excess oil out of it. I'm going to have to give her another wipe-down tonight. LOL. Man, that's embarrassing. This gun gets used quite a bit. She's no safe-queen, that's for sure, but the barrel is officially rated to 80,000rds. so I think it's only right that she should be rode hard. he-he. Appreciate the kind words all. She's like your favorite old dog. Lots of use and abuse out there in the bush, and she may not be the prettiest, but she's lovable, loyal, and tough as nails. The nicks and blemishes just show how much. I've got prettier guns, but none that I love as much as this one.

When in doubt; O.D. everytime! (makes it easier to find my guns when I'm out shooting with the ""boys"" and all of their Black guns everywhere; if it's O.D. in color, it belongs to Corpus, etc.) :)

Well done and thank you for answering the request. :)

The rear sight looks to be almost tubelike. Does that make it difficult to pick up targets with it?

Does she use metric or imperial mags?
Does it use the "Para" in the body cover style return spring and rod or are they in the buttstock?

The Hooded Rear Sight Aperture is there to reduce glare, and give a tighter sight picture. It's not a quick acquisition iron sight, it's a precision one. This rifle has a Medium Contour Molly-Chromed Barrel that in reality looks more like an Israeli Heavy Barrel, but that's DSA for ya. They will over-engineer everything. The heavy barrel, pan, tilt, & cant Versa-pod, and precision sights make this more of a "sustained marksman" rifle than a "run and gun, ala Rhodesian Bush War" type FAL. It's Metric all the way down the line, and is the full 21 inch barrel with the return spring in the butt-stock;. No "para" for me; I don't like folders much. This FAL is designed for high volume, accurate, and sustained lead placement, that will be easy on your shoulder. I have about 15, 20rd. Mags to go with it. You get this thing out on a private range and run speed/accuracy drills with it, and more fun you can not have; I assure you. Thanks again for the strokes. I can talk all day about her if you let me. Her name is "The #####" btw.

I can only do what I do with it because I have access to a private shooting range. Regular ranges wouldn't tolerate the drills that I run with it. 1 mag from a standing position, half a mag run, and gun, 2 mags from a kneeling position (braced on a big log), 2 mags from a high sitting position (rock pile), and 2 mags prone (eating dirt); on a mix of static and pop-up targets; as fast as you can safely do it. Once you're done, that barrel is frosted white-hot, and ready to start a fire or melt flesh (must wear gloves). That's why I got the Type II handle cut for it. You need that handle towards the end because you sure as heck can't touch the barrel or mag-well. Your arm is worn out by the end of it, but being able to pop open an ice cold beer afterwords, and go inspect the targets makes it all worthwhile. It's an ass-kicker, but it's seriously the most fun with your clothes on, especially if after inspecting the targets you can talk sh*t to your buddies. ;) After that, you let her cool off for an hour or so, and run a couple of mags in a suppressive drill at a close range target (ala' 100 meters) Round 250 rounds of 7.62x51 South African Ball, and a six pack of cold beer, and your Saturday is made. Then you sit out on the tail gate of the truck, throw a cool rag around the back of your neck (it was 105F last time I went), and watch the sun go down at the top of the hill; watch the deer come out to see what the hell was going on; tip your beer to them; "not today buddy, not today, go eat winter peas boys!" LOL. Like I said, she's my favorite. ;)

OUTSTANDING! Thank you for posting that. That is a a bada*s pic with a bada*s rifle! I've been considering upgrading my "purse" to the larger handle; like that one has/had.

LOL, he's got the sickness; good on ya! Pictures???

Nah, he has a mild case.

Anyone know what happened to the old thread(s) that had the pre "black gun"(1) pics?

Alas, after being verbally prodded by snarf, I've taken a new pic of the thunder sticks and those silly AKery thingys.

... I think ... there are approximately six and a half more FNs that aren't in the pics.

Since you guys can't shoot them, I know an American who would like to buy a couple of them off of ya'. LOL. Great Photos, and what a collection of FAL's! I like that Browning Long Flash Suppressor. I wanted one on mine but it wouldn't fit the Medium Contour Barrel that I wanted. I'm going to have to get another with a Pencil Barrel. Fantastic Rifles.
