I was hoping to get some informed feedback on a trade I was considering. The trade is a K31 for a Spanish FR8 Mauser. Both guns are in what I would consider to be very good condition. The core of my question is what do the informed readers of this forum think of the current market value of K31’s versus FR8’s. Is this a reasonable straight across trade? Does this sound fair to both sides? Sorry there are no photographs you will have to take my word for the guns being in comparable condition.

Current pricing of a V.G. K-31 is northwards of $8-900. For a similar shaped FR-8 I'd say $450-500
All ballpark of course based on your post.

I've owned and used both . The FR8 is a handy little rifle but , in regards to quality , it isn't on par with a K 31 . As beltfed points out , there is a difference in price as well . If he/she were to throw in a few hundred bucks , it would be worth thinking about .

The real question is if you consider it a fair trade. For example I once traded a Russian Capture K98k for a Portuguese M1904/39. Value wise I technically lost money, but quality wise I gained significantly.

It all depends on what you want. Do you want a 7.62 Nato M98 Mauser carbine with aperture sights or do you want a 7.5x55 Swiss straight pull carbine with 'v' notch sights?

Value wise I would place the value of the K31 in the 500-900$ range. For the FR8 I would say in the 400-700$ range depending on condition (quite a few are rather beat up due to usage as truck guns, etc.). All depends on what you want.

I think both realistically sell for around the same price. Even if the K31 is on an upward swing value wise, they're absolutely more abundant in Canada than FR8s.
