I'm looking for two pieces of advice... 22inch M1A should I chop it down to 18.5 Also who can cut and crown it.... Bit of extra info I'm not looking for accuracy out of it past 200-300m I'm more looking to make it a close to med range rifle

I would not butcher a M1A.... now a M305 is a different story.

If this is a SAI M1A do not chop it. If it is a Norc then any gunsmith should be able to do it and go for it.

M1A standard are already very fancy to me. I would re barrel with 18.5" Krieger barrel if you need to make it shorty.

Send it to dlask, they have been cutting crowning and threading M14 barrels for a decade. "Especially if it's a chrome lined barrel like chinese ones"
