Request to John

DRACHE;
"I chose Marstar for my latest order because I respect John and figured I'd support a supporting retailer. 8 days later and still no transfer has been started.
While I thank you for choosing Marstar I wonder how you have determined that your transfer has not been initiated ?? Not that the CFC would mislead you ?

When I contacted the CFC on Friday and then again on Monday I had no pending transfers nor did I have any completed transfers since October.

"I talked with two other retailers and one of them replied the transfer would be started within the same day or the very next morning with their company. The other Im sure is the same"
Perhaps these other smaller dealer are NOT quite as busy as we are ?
Had you asked here I'm certain the staf would have told ou of theestimated delay at that particular moment in time.... As mentioned above, we are a large volume outlet.

That is true they aren't as large. As for phoning and asking about a delay, the OP was told 5-7 days for the firearm to be in his hand was he not? Whether that's true or not Im not sure.

Either way though maybe a suggestion with simply having it state on your website that it can take up to a week or more for an order to process? Like I said this would give a person he foresight that it might take longer.

"These are just my observations as both an ex owner/operator of an online business and the customer of various online businesses. "

As a fellow online business man perhaps you can solve our problems for us ?
Our site of more than 2000 pages generate over 40,000 "hits" per day.... Our telephone order desks genberate a very high number of calls/orders each and every day
I would ask you, how many controlled goods are you dealing with ?
How many goods do you sell requiring special handling ?
I can tell you that Marstar received over 4,500 firearms in the past two months alone.... Last year we sold just under 20 million rds of ammunition....
A lot of orders, a lot of transfers, a lot of special handling....

I would welcome any and all solutions to resolve the delays we experience.... While you are at it PLEASE offer some suggestion for resolving the long delays we have at the CFC/CFO level.

MY business did not deal in controlled good so you're right I cannot comment on the difficulties of that. What I can comment on though is little things. Customer service can be a LITTLE better. Simply give a little better reply than "Your Order is still pending" can go a long way. Instead maybe state "We are extremely busy at this time so please bear with us as it might take a few more days". It might not seem like much but it does wonders for customer service.

While my at home online business was extremely small compared to yours, I still dealt with about 100 orders a day. Now that might not seem a lot compared to Marstar, but I worked full time while running this business on the side. I would come home, deal with orders, and have them mailed off the very next morning before work. My website stated though that it might take up to 48 hours to get an order shipped.

Thank you for taking the time to drop us a note, but please give me your real name so I can look up the file and respond accurately.

I had PM'd you my real name when you asked me last time :p

Once again John these are only my HUMBLE OPINIONS and just trying to help out with small suggestions.

Now that I have the name used on the order lets take a moment to review the history of this purchase....

You placed the order by e mail on November 9th at 6.24pm we close at 4pm therefore your order entered the system the next day Nov 10th.

Your order was picked on November 10th (same day)

Your order went for invoicing and transfer request on November 11th att 10:50am

On the very same day the CFC was requested to complete the transfer.

On Nov 16th at 10:52am (your time) we received the transfer authorization from your CFO in BC.

The next day (Nov 17th) your order was invoiced at 9:55am (our time) on document 1N416xx
We debited your credit card at 10:01am.

Today (Nov 17th) your order leaves in 40 minutes.

SO LETS TAKE A MOMENT TO REVIEW THE FACTS;
1) We picked, processed and packaged your order in less than 24 hours of it entering the system....

2) We filed for the transfer on the 11th of Nov in Miramichi, they forwarded it to the CFO in Surrey, it was approved yesterday the 16th of Nov,

3) We received the the transfer yesterday the 16th, completed our internal paperwork and prepared your order for shipping today the 17th.... Again in less than 24 hours....

4) Your order spent 6 days here, 5 of which were due to the CFC/CFO.

I must apologize for taking so long to complete your order. But we are working on a new handling system that will allow our staff & the CFC/CFO to process and approve orders at least 1 week BEFORE the customers places it.... (ideal world)

Realisticly now, how much faster do you think we can do it ??

John,

1) I placed my order Monday afternoon, I forgot that you are 3 hours ahead of me.

2) I asked on November 11th if the transfer was started since I didn't know if I needed to contact the CFO to complete said transfer and was simply told "Your order is being processed."

3) I contacted the CFC on November 12th and said there were no transfers pending to my PAL. Obviously they made a mistake.

4) I contacted the CFC again on November 15th and asked again if there was an pending or completed transfers and was told no. Obviously they made another mistake.

So CFC gave me misinformation and I made a mistake on that. For that I apologize to you and your company. My only suggestion would have been to give a little more info in the email reply.

Ok Kyle, lets review this again....
"When I contacted the CFC on Friday and then again on Monday I had no pending transfers nor did I have any completed transfers since October."
Monday would have been the 15th of Nov, somebody is not telling the truth here....
how would they not had the info and yet issue the approval by early morning on the 16th, yes we have time stamped documents.

"That is true they aren't as large. As for phoning and asking about a delay, the OP was told 5-7 days for the firearm to be in his hand was he not? Whether that's true or not Im not sure."

Perhaps there was a misunderstanding here, true we expect the delivery time to be 5-7 working days for the west coast, but there is abosolutely NO way we can dare guesstimate how long the transfer process may take....

"Simply give a little better reply than "Your Order is still pending" can go a long way. "
I agree, but what can we add, if the order is pending ?? We could mention that it is at the CFC/CFO, but in your case you don't beleive that either, I am at a loss for what to say ??

" My website stated though that it might take up to 48 hours to get an order shipped.

But as you said, no controlled goods, remember, we did have your order ready is less time than that.... We were waiting on the registry....

"I had PM'd you my real name when you asked me last time
Please understand, the last time it was likely forwarded to another of the staff, I can't recall all the pen names used on CGN....

However this time I hope I have replied to all your concerns, I would not want other members here to get the idea we sat on your order or that some other act of customer neglect took place.

John

I ordered 2 SKS's yesterday from Marstar, this is my first online firearm purchase. If Marstar are busy..................................I got a really nice receptionist almost instantly when I called. I was transferred to a live order person with 30 seconds, the gentleman I spoke to was great, this was my first online purchase of a firearm so I had lots of questions. The gentleman I spoke to, wish I had his name treated me like I was THE most important customer he had ever had, he was great. He answered every question I had, he didn't rush me, checked and asked if all my questions were answered. I was told my order would be processed and shipped ASAP and I would get it in about 10 days. Will I be waiting at the door on day 10 waiting for the mailman? Nope,[I will really lol] I trust all the good feedback Marstar gets on this forum. I trust that my order will arrive as soon as it can reasonably be processed. I know the biggest hold up is CFC but in BC they are great. I agree with the gentleman/lady on here that said this forum is the wrong place to enquire about an order. But I think this forum is the right place to say thanks for the great customer service. If I dont get my order in a timely fashion I will call Marstar.
off topic....Anyone know where I can get a set of grip bushings for Norinco 1911? Keep up the good work Marstar, glad I found you!!!:cheers:

Are you stating that Im lying about contacting the CFC on Monday now? Why would I lie about that? I am only going by what the CFC has told me. I contacted them on the 12th and the 15th and was told the same thing both times, no pending transfers and last completed transfer was in October.

"Simply give a little better reply than "Your Order is still pending" can go a long way. "

Why wouldn't I believe you John? When have I ever believed anything you said wasn't true?

You stated that my transfer was already started (or at least sent to be started) by the time you sent that reply. Simply stating that can go a long way and is the sort of reply I was suggesting.

" My website stated though that it might take up to 48 hours to get an order shipped.

But as you said, no controlled goods, remember, we did have your order ready is less time than that.... We were waiting on the registry....

And now that the truth that the CFC didn't know what the f**k was going on yes, Marstar operated extremely fast!

"I had PM'd you my real name when you asked me last time
Please understand, the last time it was likely forwarded to another of the staff, I can't recall all the pen names used on CGN....

That I understand, when dealing with so many people using real names and/or usernames it can get confusing.

However this time I hope I have replied to all your concerns, I would not want other members here to get the idea we sat on your order or that some other act of customer neglect took place.

John

John, like I said my information was based upon what the CFC had told me and your simple email reply. All I can do is apologize again for this.

I thought I was the only one too!

Well, except for a guy in Delaware with my full name EXACTLY, middle name and all!

Same here! He was even a member of the same bank! There was a mixup where they sent me the $1.4 million instead of putting it into his savings account. I still have the screen shots of when I was a millionaire for a day. :(

 As soon as you saw that you should have bought one of everything Marstar carries! (Although that probably wouldn't be enough money:()
