Requesting 1911 Suggestions Under $2500

TRP ~$1500-1700

Colt XSE series ~$1200-1400

Colt Special Combat Gov't ~$2000

S&W E-Series if you're the adventurous type

Maybe a Dan Wesson but if it were my money it would go to Springfield or Colt. The next big step up would be the Springfield Pro, which would probably exceed your budget slightly, or a Wilson if your budget is really flexible.

I'm a big fan of Para Ordnance. The only thing is that you are somewhat limited when it comes to aftermarket triggers and magwells. Reason being, most of their models utilize double stack magazines. I have a Para 16-40 Limited. Love it...

SL

Half a dozen Norinco 1911's.
There's bound to be at least one "keeper" in the bunch, with enough spare parts to last a lifetime, or two.

At this price, just don't settle for anything that is cast anywhere. There is no excuse to use cheap cast parts at $2500, but some brands probably still do. Just research first. I doubt that you will find significant quality differences at $2500 among the top brands, so it's a matter of preference.

Here is my short list so far...

Les Baer Thunder Ranch Special
Dan Wesson Valor
Ed Brown Special Forces
Springfield Armory TRP
Kimber Super Match II

I know the first 3 are top notch but I'm not sure that the Springfield and Kimber are in the same league. Should they be on the same list or should I cut one or both? I'm still open to suggestions to add to the list but I'm not interested in buying a bag full of Norincos ;). Thanks!

Those are all great pistols....Les Bear would be my first choice if you can find one.
Have a look at STI Sentry or Sentinel Premier....STI have proven to be runners for me, and they are very well put together.
I believe Armco and Freedom Ventures have stock on the Sentry 2 tone.

Dan Wesson Valor or Kimber Grand Raptor II. I own both and they are both amazingly accurate and well made guns... If I had to choose, I would go with the Grand Raptor II.

Take the remainder and pick up some Wilson Power Mags from Arms East.

AND if there is any $ left over, get a Seahorse Safe Draw Case...
