Requesting 1911 Suggestions Under $2500

Owned a lot of pretty nice 1911's through the years (Valtro 1998A1, Springfield Professionnal Operator, Ed Brown Executive Target and both DW Valor and V-Bob in Black Duty treatment to name a few) I still have one in the stable, an STI Sentry(forged frame). It may not be as beautiful to look at when compared to the Brown or the Valtro but at the range, it's every bit as accurate and well made as the bigger names in the semi-custom built 1911 segment. For your dollars worth, you just can't do better... JMHO

For that price call Don Williams at "The Action Works" to have him build you a gun, then have it imported.

How's about a SR1911 and a R1 SS 1911? Both stainless, both good quality, and combined cost will run you about $1600.00 new.

On the EE, it will run you abot $1800.00 :p

Kimber Grand Raptor or any from Raptor Series, STI Sentinel Premier or USPSA Single Stack, Ruger SR 1911 (lots of ammo to spare with leftover budget). Since you opt for a nice 1911, you might also want to buy a reloading set-up.

Dan wesson valor, the only reason it is not a 3500 gun is because they don't charge that much. My vbob was the greatest gun I ever owned. I miss you vbob...I miss you every day!!!!

Sig Scorpion, Kimber SIS Custom RL, or the Ed Brown Special Forces you have already short-listed.

The Sig and Kimber will leave you plenty of change left over for a range kit, ammo, and a few upgrades.

STI does make some great 1911s. Mine is just a Trojan in 9mm that keeps taking a beating at IPSC matches and keeps going strong. A lot of bang for your buck there.

I have a Kimber Desert Warrior in .45 that is a real tough gun. Since I changed a couple small parts a while back I have shot thousands of rounds through it without a hiccup. You have lots of options out there. The Sig 1911s seem to run very well.

From what I have seen in the higher priced guns you don't always get the best bang for your buck but that's not to say I wouldn't want one. :)

Just remember don't get discouraged if your 1911 doesn't run like a top out of the box.

You could buy two of the same brand 1911s and one may need some tuning while the other doesn't.

Doesn't take too much to get them running great if you love everything else about them it's worth it.

That's why I kept my Desert Warrior when it used to give me a few issues right out of the box. Not anymore, she's a sweetheart now.

While I agree an expensive gun should not give you any issues out of the box, 1911s aren't Glocks. :) Haha
