Requesting 40x Barrel Opinions

To all you gun wizards and dreamers!

I'm looking to hear what folks thing I should get for a barrel that's going on a Rimfire 40x.

After splurging on it I'm rather low on funds so I'm not looking to sink insane amounts into it, so no carbon fiber or stainless I'm afraid! I already have a good idea of what I plan to throw on it, but I'm still wanting to hear opinions! I'm not sure if the action will take 1.2" or a 1.25" diameter barrel but I plan to measure it all out. It will be a 26" that I'm dead set on. Tell me what you'd think is the better options!

Try Rock or Brux
there are no drop in 22 barrels, so you will have to get it fitted and head spaced to the action
It is threaded in the action like a remington 700 is
So not an inexpensive under taking
 
Any details/info you can share in what the threading/bolt recess is like? That's one thing I've not found and I have been scouring the net for weeks.

Stainless is almost universally the same price as a "carbon steel" barrel and is better in every conceivable way. There is not a single reason to not choose it unless you are absolutely dead set on bluing. However, adding bluing will cost you far more than just opting for a stainless barrel. The action will accept a barrel 40" in diameter, but the stock won't. Remington 700s are typically 1.25" at the shank.
 
There are many fine barrel manufacturers! Getting a great rimfire gunsmith will be the important part of your equation! Best of luck
 
I'd go with a MullerWorks 4 groove modified straight 0.875". I'm not sure of the logic in getting a nice action and wanting to cheap out on the barrel???
 
Same logic as buying a hellcat or a 4x4 and never going off road. Budge3t and stupidity. Saving for a barrel at the moment but still wanting to get out and break the action in and shoot her.

Might not make sense, sure it may be stupid, but that me!
