Im currently gathering the parts to put together my first and maybe only ar. What im looking for is what tools are needed to do this job? Any hints or tips would be appreciated.

Thanks

reaction rod, punch set, small brass hammer. ar tool for castle and barrel nuts. solid vise. those are the big ones.if your just assembling th lower, even less tools required. upper barrel assembly is the hardest part.

If you don't have a billet upper then an upper action block is cheaper than a reaction rod.

Brownells has the upper action block and lower vice block (set) on sale right now for 60USD

other than that, what bsand suggested is pretty much it. AR armorers wrench, punch set, small brass/nylon hammer, good vice. If you can borrow a torque wrench or have one that's a bonus.

It’s an easy process, just go slow and tape the hell out of the receiver when you do the bolt release pin. You have been warned.

This was a good investment for me, I still tape the lower but this tool makes them much easier to do without damage
