well i finally got most of what i wanted to do wraped up on this old 64B, when i aquired it she had been thru a fire then spent some time laying in a water puddle.... infact there was so much rust in the bore i had to use a drill bit to clear a path for a brush then i went to town with a cordless drill and stainless steel pistol brush with cutting oil.... i managed to clean out the rust and got a bit of a shine to the rifleing so i decided to sand down the stock and give it a light oil finish.... i took it to the range and with some hammering on the sight's could pull out 2-3" group's at 50yrd's... hmmmm cheap gopher plinker? BINGO!
i scavenged the bushnell 4x off my enfield and picked up some ring's and a few other extra's
$25 for ring's
$70 fixed 4x bushnell
$109 pivoting bipod
$30 sling, swivel's, mounting stud's
$45 mag well with mag
$20 extra mag (pfffft 10rnd's is never enuff fun!)
$20 misc sand paper and finish
turning a burnt old relic into a fun gopher plinker that will last another 40yr's? priceless.
not a cheap project by any stretch and i could have bought a new gun for what i have into this one but i enjoyed fixing it and it's a very cool feeling going from burnt rusty old scrap to slung on the shoulder patroling for ground rat's...
