Does anyone know the model history and upgrades of the different BARs?

How are the aluminum receivers for the different BARs and BLRs holding up in use and accuracy?

I'm a lefty so there is some interest in the Long/Short Tracs. What do you guys think about the styling? Anyone shoot the older right port guns from the left?

I suspect that I'll probably go with a standard used European with a steel receiver but want to keep an open mind.

Can they really function the actions reliably with the standard case Magnums or 30-06 long cases?

Researching Browning BAR

If your a leftie and have a bit of cash to part with... Get the left eject (left hand) BAR. It's a nice gun and definitely deserves a spot in the collection of a left hand shooter.
 
my next lefty gun is BAR Longtrac. Had a 270 wsm before(not lefty) and was very accurate but too much gun for the ranges I was hunting at. Next one will be a 270 win. Had no problem with the righty gun shootin left as never bothered me shooting my semi shotguns and rifles for years. Seems just really the last few years you have more selection now for us leftys.
 
I have had a couple steel receiver BAR's (2-300WM & 308win) and 3 Shorttrac's (2-7mm WSM & 300 WSM). All of them where accurate and functioned fine.

I really prefer the ShortTrac Stalker model. Nice and light and the shape of the forearm with the grip panels in all the right spots makes them very fast handling.

My buddy is left handed and shoots a BAR Mark II in 300 WSM, he loves the gun.
 
Like most lefties I am used to right eject weapons. The The original BARs with the steel receiver are much more price friendly when used. I was just worried this model might spit crap in a guys face, some right ejects do.

FN now makes a Tactical Rifle based on the shorttrac so it must be very robust. They have always made good battle weapons.

I'll keep researching but it is nice to own dedicated left handed guns. Only had one ever and it was a Rem 700 in 7MM Magnum. Actually didn't like the rifle and sold it.

I read somehwere that CNC tooling has made producing left hand guns much easier.
