Just some results that may be interesting to some:
Firing a Stevens 44 1/2 in mint condition in cal. 25-21 Stevens, used 85 gr. med.hard cast 85gr. bullet and 23 grs. of Swiss fffg as well as the same load with 5gr. of Trailboss.....big eye opener here, the smokeless load went 1 1/4" at 100. The BP loads were all over the countryside, lesson learned? You gotta use the softest alloys for BP, but I already knew that!! I guess i just proved it for myself.
A BRNO 602 ZKK or some such and i did not get along as it flung bullets sized to .459', sideways.....Slugged the bore and it was .461", the guns back in the shop!!
Grabbed a Stainless, heavy barreled Tikka Varmint in .222 Rem. to test .22 Cal. cast bullets and was a bit disappointed when the best i could do was 1 1/2" at 100 yds.....so i tried some j-word bullets(match) and the best they could do was the same 1 1/2"...I'm sure this gun will do better....so many loads...so little time!
The two Dans(one in Sask. and one in Ont.) are trying out the new .416 Mag. bullet, hopefully they will read this and let us know how it's going!!
These results prove that, very seldom does everything go the way it does in magazines, that's what makes reloading/casting/shooting so rewarding!!
