I belong to a local Historical Society here in Whitby Ontario.
For the annaul Military display and radio reactivation at the original site of Camp X..we have many activities for all ages..one this year will be a "spy school" I was on another forum and was told a member here named "BOB" makes resin Mills Bombs...My Society would like to buy a few of these for the "school"...however I don't know Bobs user name...and as I have just got back on the forum after a long time..I can't post on all threads...does anyone know how I can get hold of "BOB B"?

I did check it out. not much interest as I have a real:
PIAT with drill practice bomb
2 inch mortar w/transit case and de-act bombs w/carrier
A Newton "pippin" grenade
And several different mills bombs.
Was just curious.

Price on the mills bombs was quite reasonable considering the outrageous amounts wanted for the de-act real ones.
 
In the 70's and 80's we used to buy empty mills bombs with the bottoms milled off them for $10-15 at the local army and navy surplus stores in New Brunswick.

I had several of them that got lost during the normal course of play around the neighborhood over the years.

Wish I'd kept them now!!!!!!

LOL if todays kids run around with empty mills bombs, the SWAT and the RCMP would have a heart attack :p ;) :D

Well there are several places that still sell them I think. There is a scrapyard near where I live, and last time I checked (probably a couple of years ago) they had piles of old empty bombs, tank shells and bazooka rounds (all in a variety of sizes and shapes.) They were going to melt them down and use them for scrap metal, but supposedly the guy who does the melting won't do it because if one still had powder inside it would wreck his machinery. I own several and one of my friends has about 50 lying all over his yard. There are some pretty intersting markings on them as well. They were cheap too like 5 - 10 bucks each I think. (They just want to get rid of them.)

So many of them turn up in the old battlefields around Belgium, they sell 'em off for a song as souvenirs(emptied out of course!). I got some there a couple years ago for around 5 bucks each, still in pretty nice shape!
