Resizing. 312 bullets to. 308

Have a ton of pulled bullets from Russian surplus and thinking about buying a push through sizing die to repurpose some as 308 bullets... Any thought?
 
Copper jacketed lead core bullets aren't so bad to resize, but resizing steel core milsurp bullets would be difficult on most presses and sizing dies.
 
If you can pinch them down at all with pliers, you can size them down 4 thou. There will be some springback however. I've sized 0.323" to 0.314", but they were not steel core.
 
Surplus bullet diameter if they are Russian as you state, not .312. The diameter is around .310 or less. You can easily size them through 308 sizer, lube them first though. They can be used as they are without resizing because majority of them are boat tail as it is. So If you going to seat them on brass that sized to 308 then all you going to get is a small bulge on the neck. Resizing to proper diameter will be done by your rifle's throat when cartridge is fired.

Just load and shoot in the 308. The barrel throat will size then down right quick.

Just start low and work up, as normal. The one danger would be a tight neck. When fired, the case neck has to have room to expand, to release the bullet. If it can't expand, you have a pipe bomb.

Measure the neck of an unsized fired case. That diameter is similar to the chamber neck diameter. Then measure the neck diameter of a case loaded with the fat bullet. If it is smaller, you are good to go.

I've Lee push through a thousand 123gr steel core. I apply lots of lee sizing lube and push'em through with minor effort. Takes .3105" - .3085" and seems to hold that size just fine.
