Resizing 416 ruger brass to 375 ruger ?

Well I bought another 375 ruger as it seems that I can't live without one and it came with a box of new 416 ruger brass I'm assuming because of the brass shortage. So the question is can 416 ruger be necked down to 375? I've tried and it appears to fold the shoulders just enough that they won't chamber. Any advice is appreciated. TIA

Interesting. I would think its doable - the 416 is just a 375 necked up isn't it?... Did you try annealing the necks first?

Anneal the neck/ shoulder area before you resize and should work.

Thanks folks I tried annealing and it worked not perfectly but they do chamber now and should fire form.

I have done exactly this.

I annealed first.
Then lubes and ran trough a FL 375ruger die.
Set the die so you get a slight crush fit when closing the bolt.

Then load em up.

I did 49 brass (one new brass was way short) didn’t have any issues.

A good case is needed when reforming brass. Hornady paste lube I find works really well. Comes I a little tub. Graphite on the inside of the case mouth also makes it easier.
