Resizing 7.5x55

cool cartridge!

edit- I was goin to ask about projectile size..... but wiki says

"""Despite its nomenclature, the 7.5×55mm Swiss can with proper care use the same 7.62#mm (.308#in) bullets as conventional Western 7.62#mm (.308#in) cartridges that have slightly wider land and groove diameters. This allows for ease of handloading and custom competition or hunting loads, as nearly any .308 diameter bullet may be used"""

so, have ya done this? looks like a capable round in a new modern gun

Everyone who reloads for the 7.5x55.
The original GP11 bullet diameter does measure .3075" at it's widest, near the boat tail, so not a problem using .308" diameter bullets.
The bullet tapers all the way to the widest diameter(bore riding). Near the case mouth / cannelure it measures .306"± which explains why so much erroneous information is out there that it is .306" diameter. They simple have not bothered to pull the bullets.

GP11 on left, 175gr Berger .308 on right.
You can see the taper.

7.5mm refers to bore diameter before the rifling is cut or buttoned, same as .303 Br. refers to bore diameter and uses .310-.312 bullets, same as 7.65 Mauser rifle, 7.7 Jap
30-06 use .308, etc.

if you measure a 7.62x51 Nato bullet or a .308 Win. you'll see that in metric the bullet is actually 7.82mm diameter not 7.62mm

If the brass is a bit thick in the neck, the expander button can pull the brass neck out of shape. Solution is to lube the button/inside of neck a bit.

I generally lube the inside of the neck on every other case when resizing. I find it completely avoids this issue and doesn't require lubing every case in that spot.

I like sharing this pic to show how much the body blows out in a K31. GP11 on the left, neck sized fire formed 284Win from my K31 on the right. Despite being short as hell, the 150gr Horn FMJ seated to the canalure shoot very well out to 300 for me. One of these days I'm going to get a proper 7.5x55 built on a long action Rem 700.

There are ready made ones, extremely well made ones at that.
