I'm new to making my own bullets. I'm thinking of buying a mold and it casts
.365 bullets. I want to resize these down to .358 or .356. Do I have to use several dies of smaller sizes in increments or will the resizer tool handle a resize from .365 down to .356 in one go ?

You need to find a different mold. There are hundreds of designs in 358.

I think the common wisdom is not to size more than 3 or 4 thou at a time but I'm betting that even is you use a couple of steps to get it to size these bullets aren't going to give you very good results.

When sizing cast bullets, the metal(lead) that you are displacing has to go somewhere, so it will go where you don't want it, if you are resizing too much. It will go the only place it can, into the grooves, and it will not be consistent as to how much goes where. Some driving bands will be completely removed and then it won't be consistent. It will probably make for a very inaccurate bullet that will probably give leading problems. Rarely do I try to size down more than .002".

check your .365" bullet grooves, they are probably bigger than .358" which means you will completely remove them by resizing.

Ok thanks for the replies. I thought that resizing dies would peel the excess lead off and drop onto the bench. I didn't know resizing moved the lead . Now I understand.
