i purchased this die set and set up the resizing/decap die according to the instructions (the bottom of the die touches the top of the shell plate and the decapping pin protrudes the bottom of the die by 0.4"). i have lubed my cases with bootleg case lube but i dont feel any tension when sizing. i feel more tension when i size 45acp cases. is this normal or am i doing something wrong? what should my case measurements be?

thanks in advance.

Not to be rude but is this your first time reloading 223

Do you have a head space gauge to measure the brass before you start resizing.

yes, it is my first time reloading rifle. i dont have a gauge yet but will be ordering one along with some other stuff from x-reload in a couple weeks.

i figured out the problem though. for some reason the die backed out a little bit and wasnt touching the shell plate so i readjusted it and it feels like it is sizing properly now. i just sized a dozen cases and will wait to get my case gauge before i continue sizing more.
