Greetings all, I was wondering if you know of any good literature or web sources for someone interested in getting into hunting. Basically if I wanted to head into the bush tomorrow for turkey, I would have no idea what to wear, what kind of call to buy, whether to use a blind, or any other basic information that I'm sure all of you take for granted. I'm interested in turkey hunting but any general information would be very helpful. Cheers

There's a few hunting forums on the net. Ontario Trophy Bucks is one of them that I Know of. They have a section for turkey hunting.

Well, turkey season is closed to start with. Have you completed the turkey course that is required to purchase your turkey seal?

In Ontario you must have:
your outdoors card (having passed your hunting course)
Pass the turkey course
Purchase tag
Go during the open season (spring or fall, both require there own tags)

Most guys go full camo, some use blinds (strore bought or made from nature)
Calls. Many different types. I use mouth and box calls.
Oh and a gun or bow helps.

Most of this is covered in the course as well.

There is a lot of good reading here

Yeah I realize turkey season is closed, when I said go out tomorrow I was just generalizing. I'm mostly just looking for some general information so that when I do go out in the bush I maximize my chances and act in a safe manner. I have my licenses and whatnot, but didn't find the courses particularily practical for getting started hunting. Checking that website out now though, thanks!
