Respirator when dealing with Powder?

Anyone here wear a Respirator/Mask when measuring powder out? If so, what kind is it.
Dust/Particle or Harmful vapor type? I'm leaning towards the later.

I am using and RCBS digital scale to measure out powder loads one at a time.
The room is fairly well ventilated but I am wondering if it may be a good idea to invest in some kind of Respirator to combat the dizziness.
 
You get dizzy when scaling powder charges? I've never had this problem, it might be an indicator of a more serious problem :p

Seriously though, I'm not convinced there are any harmful vapours to worry about. As for the particle respirators, I haven't had any problems with the powders I use being lighter than air, so really there isn't much risk for breathing them in.

I don't snort the stuff, but I will admit to excessively smelling my G96, CLP and hoppe's.

It's a problem I have and I'm working through it, please don't judge me. :p
 
If you are using a double based powder you may ingest some nitroglycerine which can cause you BP to change. But it usually only happens with handling.

I would think thats because people aren't washing their hands before eating, and not necessarily inhaling?

I’d say wearing a mask measuring helps if you sneeze while smoking at the same time, you won’t blow yourself up as easily!:D

The first thing I do when I open a fresh can is take a big sniff. I love that stuff. I also love the smell of my shotgun after I just dumped 3 rounds through her on a cool Fall Night. I love the smell of Hoppes #9 and of freshly oiled wood. Of course I like the smell of my own farts too so my opinion doesn't really count...
 
Ahaha, you guys are hilarious... :D I guess the brain damage is just starting to set in on me and then I wont notice anything after that point.

Haven't tried sniffing the Hoppes yet, but it sounds like a winner.

Bingo. Nitroglycerine and all nitrate esters are vasodilators. Some people are naturally more susceptible to the "nitro headache", and for others it is not seen unless ingesting the pure liquid. Ingestion, inhalation and skin contact can all cause this issue. For some even being near it causes these symptoms due to nitroglycerine's high vapour pressure. Effects become less of an issue after repeated exposure. You are in no harm other than inconvenience, however if you choose to gear up more, a dust mask will be useless, and only a respirator will block the vapours. If you are this sensitive and not willing to wait for immunity to kick in, gloves will also cut down exposure.
