rest bag filling recommendation

I had the prefilled bags from Caldwell. They were ok until they got rained on. The next day, the fill had expanded so much that the bags busted open. Got the full set of JSA bags. They're perfect!
 
Expensive way to make popcorn :(

thanks for sharing your experience. thats why i am leaning towards buying unfilled bags and ideally fill it with pellets or beads which makes it lighter and durable. I hope ur JSA bags are not that heavy

That's what I did too. Everyone once in a while you see the big jugs of like 50 million pellets on sale, sometimes it even comes with a free airsoft gun!

It's much lighter than sand to carry back and forth, and no worries about moisture like rice.
 
I've been thinking I need a set of bags made from the legs of an old pair of pants.
Reading this post gave me an idea for fill. I like the sound of plastic pellets, but could be expensive. What about buying stuffed animals or bean bag chairs from Value Village or a local thrift store?
Sometimes the fill is those little plastic beads, drain them into your empty shooting bags.

Hey guys~since I'm about to ask a question in a new thread, I thought I'd chime in on this one to generate some good will. :) I just bought a set of bags from Don, and from what I've read...they're the best; http://www.dog-gone-good.com/ Very nice fellow, and from what I gather...he's the one that makes bags for Sinclair, Brownell's, etc. Very nice man. Anyhow, after having this discussion with him re: fill, he said he uses beads from a plastic recycler. I called around/asked around and found a plastic place that sells "polypropylene re-grind". Since I got the sense they sell it by the truck load, I sweet-talked them into filling a box with about 30 pounds for me. BOY are they perfect. Very heavy, flowed easily through a small kitchen funnel to fill the bags, very heavy, clean, etc. etc.

I have enough leftover that I plan on making some simple/smaller bags out of the pant legs of some old camo pants I have laying around.

If anyone would like to see a photo of the bags, the fill itself...I can snap a few photos later tonight, and post them here.

these guys seem to have very good quality bags. however it will cost me more than what i want to spend especially after adding shipping costs. my slogan is price and quality.

Mine is "buy once/cry once". lol But yeah, I hear you. The Caldwell ones look OK too. Saw them in Bass Pro.

Just make sure you hold a bag of aquarium gravel vs the airsoft bb's. To me it's worth the extra $10 to not have the extra weight in my already heavy bag to lug back and forth. Also keep your eye on the Canadian tire or cabelas flyers, they go on sale all the time.
 
good point. i think if you will use the bag for hunting then its worth considering weight, but for shooting clubs which is my case it wont be a hassle (just need to carry the bag from home to car and car to bench).
