Restock 722 Remington

What is involved in restocking a 722 Remington with a tupperware 700 Remington factory stock or a factory wood stock? Can it be a BDL or does it have to be an ADL?

if you have the original trigger/safety assembly then modifying the stock, as in making a cutout for the safety to clear.

So I need a short action ADL stock and then all I have to do is cut out room for the safety to work. I can use the trigger and safety from the original 722? What about the trigger guard and bottom metal of the 722?

I've not tried it, but perhaps the bottom metal from a 722 would work, or could be adapted, in a BDL stock. It certainly would not work in an ADL. If you had only an ADL stock, an ADL trigger guard could be used. I cannot tell you how a 722 magazine box compares with an ADL or BDL box. The BDL is shorter than the ADL.
In addition to inletting the stock for the safety, the cutout for the bolt handle will likely have to be altered. The 722 goes straight down, the 700 is swept back.
