I have a 70's vintage No.1 S in 7 mm Remington Magnum, that was my first centre fire rifle. I bought it for cheap because the wood had been thrashed by the previous owner. It is now time to get it back to the shape that it deserves to be. Who would I contact about restocking it with some decent wood? Eventually a rebarrel will be in the works too, but one part of the project at a time.

What about contacting Ruger for OEM stocks? Maybe you could send them the whole rifle and have it factory fitted. The cost may be cheaper than having stocks made. Other than that, I'm sure Boyd's Gunstocks could help you out, but I would start with the OEM.

Call Snapshots @ 1-450-427-0052, they are the Canadian service depot for Ruger... Carole is great to deal with but she is on holidays until next week. Give them your serial number and request a stock set... the forend may require some fitting, and depending on how old the rifle is, they may not be able to help you out. If that option fails, give Clay a call at Prophet River. Prophet does alot of No.1 stock retrofits... they also have some amazing blanks, just keep in mind that the nicer the wood the wider you have to open your wallet.

I have done three over the years, I got my wood from George Peterson at Treebone Carving in New Mexico.
He has simply tremendous choices in different woods and stock styles.
Not cheap, but worth it......

Are you going back to a stock profile barrel in the future? Be a shame to do a whole lot of work to experinsive piece of wood only to have to start again to fit a different profile.
