restoring a stock info?

I know i may be bringing up a subject thats been repeated time and time again in the past but here i go.
im looking for a safe way to bring back some of the original look back out of my no1 mk3 bsa short lee enfield the stock looks like its drying off excessively. Im hoping to find a way easily enough that a dummy like me can bring it back but without ruining it

From the looks of the picture, a coat or two of pure boiled linseed oil probably will be enough. Apply a thin coat, let it sit for a while, then buff (by hand, no power tools). Repeat after a few days.

I use clean cotton rags.

I am by no means a professional restorer, here are a few tricks I use:

Some of the stocks that I have repaired I have just used wood glue and clamped it. I opened up the crack a bit and forced glue in.

You can use a damp rag and an iron to remove small dents.

Can't help on the colour matching, but you can steam out dents with an iron and damp cloth. To stop cracks I use thin or medium cyanoacrylate glue, wicked into the crack. Some people use thin epoxy instead of the CA. You must clean the wood well and get rid of any oil in the crack to get any adhesive to bond, though.

Don't colour match an Enfield. From the factory, you often saw different colour woods on the same rifle - it doesn't look out of place.

What about a Garand? Also should I get the oil out of the stock before I attempt to steam dents out too?
