I was wondering if I can legally buy restricted ammo for a Glock without having a membership to a range?
Any help would awesome.

If you have a PAL you can buy Ammo for anything you would like. There is no such thing as restricted ammo. Only restriced firearms.

In the case of 9mm Luger ammunition it is not itself a restricted item. The handguns are restricted possession not the ammunition.
In Canada you need a valid PAL or POL to buy ammunition. Something that should have been gone over in your firearms safety course. If you do not have your PAL or POL then you cannot buy ammunition for firearms.

actually, there is restricted ammo. explosive rounds/shotgun"FLESHETTES" and i believe tracers.:stirthepot2: yes,i realize inquiry was about 9mm.

I guess I've been a bad, bad boy.

The closest thing to restricted ammo might possibly be tracers.
Technically legal by the CFO however the CBSA won't let them into Canada.
Also banned at most ranges.

See above. Explosive projectiles and flechettes (small darts in a shotshell) are prohibited devices.

I agree with all the posts above (about ammo anyways LOL), but there are some ignorant retailers out there who will not sell so called 'pistol ammo' to you if you don't have a RPAL. I tried to educate them on their error by explaining that there are a number of NR firearms that are chambered popular 'pistol' calibres but they said it was their store policy

Who?

That doesn't sound right.

Tracers aren't prohib, they're just awefully hard (near impossible) to get into the country. I've seen a few around though.

As already mentioned, explosive projectiles, fleshettes (which are ridiculously crazy intense) and obviously armor piercing bullets are prohib.

As far as rounds for restricted handguns go, you can buy whatever you want with just your PAL.

As long as you have your PAL, you can purchase any ammo legally for sale in Canada.

I have heard of some stores refusing to sell pistol ammo to people without the Restricted classification on their licence though.

They are retarded.

As we all know, several long guns use pistol ammo.

Again, who?

Does it matter? If they want to enforce a store policy that is their perogative. I agree there is no such thing as "handgun ammunition" and that a PAL is all you need legally to buy but if a store has that policy it's their right to do so and it's your right NOT to shop there if you disagree with it.
