Uppers are not restricted its the lower. Barrel length
The lower is restricted or Non restricted depending on what upper is on it.
The frt entry for the nodak lower lists both barrel length. With the ar180 uppers as restricted and the ar180b uppers as non restricted.
You won't have any problem registering it. It's the same parent frt number for either NR or R, just different child/sub entries listing the different barrel lengths.
Excellent, I was a little concerned about the approach they'd take to using that lower under a Sterling upper. If that's not an issue, I'll talk to the man with the Sterling, and buy the bits that I can. Thanks guys.
Just be sure to take care of the paperwork before taking it out. Even at a range you've got an unregistered restricted so penalties will be pretty severe if you got stopped and the 180 doesn't need any negative reports to draw their attention to it.
If you're just buying an upper and a NoDak lower you'll need an AR180 lower parts kit to finish the lower. They use an AR trigger but everything else including the trigger pins is different.
